BY-LAWS AND REGULATIONS AS TO PLAY

1. PLAY

On all occasions play shall be regulated by the rules of the Lawn Tennis Association.

2. USE OF COURTS

2.1. Club Sessions, Matches, Coaching Sessions and Tournaments approved at an AGM or by the General Committee shall have priority use of the courts.

2.2. At all other times, Juniors may play only if the courts are not occupied or required by Adult Members.

2.3. Juniors already occupying a court may, however, continue to play in accordance with by-law 3.1 below before giving way to Adult Members.

3. ORDER OF PLAY

The Committee may introduce a court booking system from time to time. Unless a court has been pre-booked the order of play shall be as follows.

3.1. Junior Members may not occupy a court for more than one set (or 11 games or less) if Adult Members are waiting to play.

3.2. Adult Members may not occupy a court for more than one set (of 11 games or less) if other Adult Members are waiting to play.

3.3. Junior Members may play singles only if no other members are waiting to play.

3.4. Adult Members may play singles only if no other Adult Members are waiting to play. 3.5. Where a singles set has started this may continue until completion of the set (of 11 games or less) or for a period of 20 minutes, whichever occurs first.

3.6. At Club sessions, order of play shall be according to the board system or by agreement with those present.

4. JUNIOR MEMBERS

Junior Members having reached an acceptable standard may participate in all Club activities at the invitation of the General Committee. All children under 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The club cannot accept responsibility for any unsupervised juniors on the premises.

5. DRESS

Members are expected to wear tennis shoes and appropriate clothing at all times on the courts.

6. BALLS

Tennis balls will generally be available at the Club for use by Members. Balls are to be returned at the end of play to the clubhouse.

7. VISITORS

A Member shall be permitted to invite visitors to use the courts provided other members do not require the courts. For each visitor the Member shall pay to the Treasurer £5 per adult and £2.50 per junior per visit as soon as possible. This facility may be restricted at the discretion of a General Committee Member. No guest shall play more than 4 times in any one year.

8. PUBLIC ACCESS

In accordance with Clause 5.7.2 of the Runnymede Borough Council Lease dated 18 June 2003, the tennis courts at the King George V Playing Field shall be made available for hire by the General Public, when not being used by members of the Knowle Hill Tennis Club, on payment to the Club of a reasonable fee set by the General Committee.

9. AMENDMENTS TO BY-LAWS AND REGULATIONS AS TO PLAY

The Committee may make, repeal and amend these By-laws and Regulations as to Play which shall then be binding upon Members until repealed by the General Committee or set aside by a resolution passed at a General Meeting.
